DAVE CAHILL – “YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW”
©2011 DAVE CAHILL (ASCAP) UNRELEASED DEMO RECORDING
I wrote this political song while attending a guitar workshop with Tim Reynolds at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch in Ohio. Although my entire experience at FPR was filled with abundant love and happiness, I was inspired to let out my frustration and dissatisfaction with the way things were going in our country. It was my frustration with those who acknowledge the problems we face, yet continue to ignore them and pretend they don’t exist. So, carrying these heavy feelings, I walked my acoustic guitar into a secluded area, sat down on a stone bench underneath some trees and began writing this aggressive song on a beautiful, sunny day in March. Perhaps it was because I was at such a lovely place that maybe it was my mind’s way of detoxifying my thoughts, because the words just poured out into my lyric book in a matter of a few moments. Either way, when I returned from the guitar workshop, I was excited to record “You Don’t Want To Know”. I recorded bits and pieces of this song from the summer of 2009 all the way to late 2010, adding parts and removing parts as I went along. This is only a rough demo version and I do plan on recording the real version in the near future, either as a solo artist or with my band, THE ALMIGHTY TERRIBLES.
